I honestly never thought this would happen to me. This is my fourth book, and it didn’t happen the first three times, so I didn’t think this time would be any different. I was rather content with the fact that I had birthed another book, it was going to help a lot of people, and I would possibly glean new business as a result.
I was advised by many best-sellers on the strategies to becoming a best-selling author. They include doing an anthology with 20 other professionals or pricing the book at $.99 and pushing sales on one day. While I am not knocking those strategies because they clearly work, that’s not what I did.
My process was more like the tortoise and the hare. I was the tortoise. I published my book in June and I hit the best-seller list in July (roughly 6 weeks later). My sales were steady but nothing out of this world. So much so, that I wasn’t really paying attention to my rankings.
One day last week I noticed that my book was #38. I smiled and thought, “Since I’m in the top 100, I’m technically considered a best-seller.” Well I continued to promote the book and then I looked up and I was #7. This got me excited! MY book was #7??? WOW!!!
I sent out an email to my list sharing my excitement and I posted it on Facebook. My clients, friends, and family got so excited. They bought books and they encouraged their friends to do the same. Several hours later, my book hit #1!!!
My husband and I were out grocery shopping and I was constantly checking my phone. Imagine me walking down the aisles of Kroger checking my phone every 2 seconds. LOL
We were in the car when it happened. I hit the refresh button and just like that, my ranking changed. I was NUMBER ONE!!! Thankfully my husband was driving. I screamed so loudly and I tried to jump up and down but my seat belt restrained me. All I repeatedly said, “oh my God, oh my God”. Then I called my mom. I said, “Mom, I did it! My book is NUMBER ONE!”
I have accomplished a lot of things, but this by far is one of the greatest! Grab your copy of my #1 best-selling book: Did You Hire a Fraud? today!
